Health – Entering a Hospital

A hospital is driven by the goal of saving lives. It may range in size and service from a small unit that provides general care and low-risk treatments to large, specialized centers offering dramatic and experimental therapies. You may be limited in your choice of a hospital by factors beyond your control, including insurance coverage, your physician’s hospital affiliation, and type of care available.

Before entering a hospital, you should be aware of possible dangers. Well-known hospital hazards are unnecessary operations, unexpected drug reactions, harmful or even fatal blunders, and hospital borne infections. The Institute of Medicine recently identified three areas in which the health-care system, in general, and hospitals and their staff, in specific, often fall short: the use of unnecessary or inappropriate care (too many antibiotics), underused of effective care (too few immunizations or Pap smears), and shortcomings in technical and interpersonal skills . The greatest single danger that a hospital presents is infection, which is largely preventable.

What can lay people do to ensure proper and safe care while in the hospital? The following guidelines should be considered.

If you have a choice of hospitals, inquire about their accreditation status. Hospitals are subject to inspection to make sure they are in compliance with federal standards. Policies implemented in 1989 require the release of information on request to state health departments regarding a hospital’s mortality rate, its accreditation status, and its major deficiencies.

Before checking into a hospital, you need to decide on your accommodations. Do you want to pay extra for a single room? Do you want a nonsmoker for a roommate? Do you need a special diet? Do you need a place to store refrigerated medicine? If someone will be staying with you, will they need a cot? You should try to avoid going in on a weekend when few procedures are done. When you get to your room, you should speak up immediately if it’s unacceptable.

You need to be familiar with your rights as a patient . Hospitals should provide an information booklet that includes a Patient’s Bill of Rights. The booklet will inform you that you have the right to considerate and respectful care; information about tests, drugs, and procedures; dignity; courtesy; respect; and the opportunity to make decisions, including when to leave the hospital.

You should make informed decisions. Before authorizing any procedure, patients must be informed about their medical condition, treatment options, expected risks, prognosis of the condition, and the name of the person in charge of treatment. This is called informed consent. The only times hospitals are not required to obtain informed consent are cases involving life-threatening emergencies, unconscious patients when no relatives are present, and/or compliance with the law or a court order, such as examination of sexually transmitted diseases. If you are asked to sign a consent form, you should read it first. If you want more information, you should ask before signing. If you are skeptical, you have the right to post pone the procedure and discuss it with your doctor.

Authorization of a medical procedure may be given nonverbally, such as an appearance at a doctor’s office for treatment, cooperation during the administration of tests, or failure to object when consent can be easily refused. This is called implied consent.

You need to weigh the risks of drug therapy, x-ray examinations, and laboratory tests with their expected benefits. When tests or treatments are ordered, you should ask about their purpose, possible risks, and possible actions if a test finds something wrong. For example, the injection or ingestion of x-ray dyes makes body structures more visible and greatly facilitates a physician’s ability to make a correct diagnosis. However, dyes can cause an allergic reaction that ranges from a skin rash to circulatory collapse and death. Finally, you should inquire about prescribed drugs. You should avoid taking drugs, including pain and sleeping medication, unless you feel confident of their benefits and are aware of their hazards.

When scheduled for surgery, prepare for anesthesia. In rare cases general anesthesia can cause brain damage and death. One cause of such catastrophes is vomiting while unconscious. To reduce the risk, refuse any food or drink that may be offered by mistake in the 8 hours before surgery.

You need to know who is in charge of your care and record the office number and when you can expect a visit. If your doctor is transferring your care to someone else, you need to know who it is. If your doctor is not available and you do not know what is happening, you can ask for the nurse in charge of your case.

You should keep a daily log of procedures, medicines, and doctor visits. When you get your bill, compare each item with your written record. Insist on an itemized bill.

You should stay active within the limits of your medical problem. Many body functions begin to suffer from just a few days’ inactivity. Moving about, walking, bending, and contracting muscles help to clear body fluids, reduce the risk of infections (especially in the lungs), and cope with the stress of hospital procedures that add to the depression and malaise of hospitalization.

You should be alert. Throughout your stay, you can keep asking questions until you know all you need to know. According to some experts, the biggest improvement in health care has not been technological advances; it’s been patients asking questions. The more questions, the fewer mistakes and the more power patients have in the doctor-patient relationship

Selecting a Health-Care Professional

Choosing a physician for your general health care is an important and necessary duty. Only physicians are discussed here, but this information applies to the selection of all health-care practitioners. You must select one who will listen carefully to your problems and diagnose them accurately. At the same time, you need a physician who can move you through the modern medical maze of technology and specialists.

For most people, good health care means having a primary-care physician, a professional who assists you as you assume responsibility for your overall health and directs you when specialized care is necessary. Your primary-care physician should be familiar with your complete medical history, as well as your home, work, and other environments. You are better understood in periods of sickness when your physician also sees you during periods of wellness. Finding a primary-care physician, however, may be difficult. Of the 700,000 doctors in the United States, only 200,000 (less than 30%) are in primary care.

For adults, primary-care physicians are usually family practitioners, once called “general practitioners,” and internists, specialists in internal medicine. Pediatricians often serve as primary-care physicians for children. Obstetricians and gynecologists, who specialize in pregnancy, childbirth, and diseases of the female reproductive system, often serve as primary-care physicians to women. In some places, general surgeons may offer primary care in addition to the surgery they perform. Some osteopathic physicians also practice family medicine. A doctor of osteopathy (DO) emphasizes manipulation of the body to treat symptoms.

There are several sources of information for obtaining the names of physicians in your area:

Local and state medical societies can identify doctors by specialty and tell you a doctor’s basic credentials. You should check on the doctor’s hospital affiliation and make sure the hospital is accredited. Another sign of standing is the type of societies in which the doctor has membership. The qualifications of a surgeon, for example, are enhanced by a fellowship in the American College of Surgeons (abbreviated as FACS after the surgeon’s name). An internist fellowship in the American College of Physicians is abbreviated F ACP. Membership in academies indicates a physician’s special interest.

All physicians board certified in the United States are listed in the American Medical Directory published by the American Medical Association and available in larger libraries. About one fourth of the practicing physicians in the United States are not board certified. This may mean that a doctor failed the exam, never completed training, or is incompetent. It could also mean that the doctor simply has not taken the exam.

The American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS) publishes the Compendium of Certified Medical Specialties, which lists physicians by name, specialty, and location. Pharmacists can be asked to recommend names.

Hospitals can give you names of staff physicians who also practice in the community.

Local medical schools can identify faculty members who also practice privately.

Many colleges and universities have health centers that keep a list of physicians for student referral.

Friends may have recommendations, but you should allow for the possibility that your opinion of the doctor may be different.

Once you have identified a leading candidate, you can make an appointment. You need to check with the office staff about office hours, availability of emergency care at night or on weekends, backup doctors, procedures when you call for advice, hospital affiliation, and payment and insurance procedure.You should schedule your first visit while in good health. Once you have seen your doctor, reflect on the following: Did the doctor seem to be listening to you? Were your questions answered? Was a medical history taken? Were you informed of possible side effects of drugs or tests? Was respect shown for your need of privacy? Was the doctor open to the suggestion of a second opinion?

Data Protection Laws of India

In the recent years India has emerged as one of the preferred destinations for offshore business outsourcing. Financial services, educational services, legal services, banking services, healthcare services, marketing services and telecommunication services . The factors that have turned India into one of the hotspots for offshore outsourcing are the educated and unemployed masses, enterprising nature of Indians who have excellent spoken English skills and relatively cheap labour.

In June 2005, one BPO was in the eye of the storm when one of its employees sold personal data belonging to a large number of British nationals to an undercover reporter from the British tabloid ‘The Sun’. The incident sparked off a debate among the offshore industry circles, media and the legal world as to how safe foreign data is in Indian hands. The discussions were also veered towards the need for some kind of protection for personal data in India which is absent currently.

Data Protection Issues have time and again raised concern in the authorities about the cyber extortion, privacy, confidentiality, data protection and national security. With the increasing penetration in the online usage of more and more people towards internet, e-banking, e-shopping etc. the concerns of data protection and related issues are growing day by day.

Privacy is closely connected to Data Protection. An individual’s data like his name address, telephone numbers, profession, family, choices, etc. are often available at various places like schools, colleges, banks, directories, surveys and on various web sites.

Passing on such information to interested parties can lead to intrusion in privacy like incessant marketing calls.

It would be a misnomer to say that India does not have ‘data protection’ legislation at all.

This is factually wrong. The fact is that there exists data protection legislation in India.

The subject matter of data protection and privacy has been dealt within the Information

Technology Act, 2000 but not in an exclusive manner.

Data protection is not a subject in any of the three lists in Schedule VII of the

Constitution of India. But Entry 97 of List 1 states: “any other matter not enumerated in

List II and List III …….” Thus only the Indian Parliament is competent to legislate on

data protection since it can be interpreted as any other matter not enumerated in List II

and List III.

Data protection is, thus, a Central subject and only the Central Government is competent

to frame legislations on issues dealing with data protection. In fact, the Information

Technology Act, 2000,and the Indian Copyright Act, 1957 , enacted by the Indian Parliament are the main legislations in this field, which contains provisions on data protection. There is also a proposed Personal Data Protection Bill, 2006, which deals with the protection of personal data.

The Indian Parliament enacted an Act called the Information Technology Act, 2000. It

received the assent of the President on the 9th June, 2000 and is effective from 17th October, 2000. This Act is based on the Resolution A/RES/51/162 adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on 30th January, 1997 regarding the Model Law

on Electronic Commerce earlier adopted by the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) in its twenty-ninth session.

It was a foresight on the part of the Government of India to initiate the entire process of

enacting India’s first ever information technology legislation in the year 1997 itself.

It is significant to note that by enactment of the Information Technology Act, 2000, the

Indian Parliament provided a new legal idiom to data protection and privacy. The main

principles on data protection and privacy enumerated under the Information Technology

Act, 2000 are:

(i) defining ‘data’, ‘computer database’, ‘information’, ‘electronic form’, ‘originator’, ‘addressee’ etc.

(ii) creating civil liability if any person accesses or secures access to computer, computer system or computer network

(iii) creating criminal liability if any person accesses or secures access to computer, computer system or computer network

(iv) declaring any computer, computer system or computer network as a protected system

(v) imposing penalty for breach of confidentiality and privacy

(vi) setting up of hierarchy of regulatory authorities, namely adjudicating officers, the Cyber Regulations Appellate Tribunal etc.

Further, the Information Technology Act, 2000 defines certain key terms with respect to data protection, like access [S.2 (1)(a)], Computer [S.2 (1)(i)], Computer network [S.2 (1)(j), Computer resource [S.2 (1)(k)], Computer system [S.2 (1)(l)], Computer database

[S.43, Explanation (ii)],Data [S.2 (1)(o)], Electronic form [S.2 (1)(r)], Electronic record

[S.2 (1)(t], Information [S.2 (1)(v)], Intermediary [S.2 (1)(w)], Secure system [S.2(1)(ze)] and Security procedure [S.2 (1)(zf)].

Civil liability in case of data, computer database theft, privacy violation etc.

The Act provides a complete Chapter (Chapter IX) on cyber contraventions, i.e., section

43 (a) – (h) which cover a wide range of cyber contraventions related to unauthorised

access to computer, computer system, computer network or resources.

Section 43 of the Act covers instances such as: (a) computer trespass, violation of privacy

etc. (b) unauthorised digital copying, downloading and extraction of data, computer

database or information;. theft of data held or stored in any media, (c) unauthorised

transmission of data or programme residing within a computer, computer system or

computer network (cookies, spyware, GUID or digital profiling are not legally

permissible), (d) data loss, data corruption etc., (e) computer data/database disruption,

spamming etc., (f) denial of service attacks, data theft, fraud, forgery etc., (g)

unauthorised access to computer data/computer databases and (h) instances of data theft

(passwords, login IDs) etc.

Criminal liability in case of data, computer database theft, privacy violation etc.

The Act also provides a complete Chapter (Chapter XI) on cyber offences, i.e., sections

65-74 which cover a wide range of cyber offences, including offences related to unauthorised alteration, deletion, addition, modification, alteration, destruction, duplication or transmission of data, and computer database.

For example, section 65 [Tampering with computer source documents] of the Act is not

limited to protecting computer source code only, but it also safeguards data and computer

databases; and similarly section 66 [Hacking with Computer System] covers cyber offences related to (a) Illegal access, (b) Illegal interception, (c) Data interference, (d)

System interference, (e) Misuse of devices, etc.

Interestingly, section 72 [Penalty for breach of confidentiality and privacy] is aimed at

public (and private) authorities10, which have been granted power under the Act to secure

access to any electronic record, book, register, correspondence, information, document or

other material information. The idea behind the aforesaid section is that the person who has secured access to any such information shall not take unfair advantage of it by disclosing it to the third party without obtaining the consent of the disclosing party.

INDIAN COPYRIGHT ACT, 1957 protects “Databases” as ‘literary works’ under Section 13 (1) (a) of the Act which says that Copyright shall subsists throughout India in original literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works

Copyright Act 1957 – Section 2(6)–Literary work–Compilation of list of clients /customers developed by a person by devoting time, money, labour and skill amounts to a literary work wherein the author has a copyright.

Section 2(o) defines `literary work’ to include (among others) computer programmes, tables and compilations including computer databases.. Under section 14, literary work is one of the items wherein exclusive rights can be claimed so as to amount to copyright. Under Section 17(c) if a work is made in the course of other’s employment under a contract of service or apprenticeship it is the employer who is the first owner of the copyright therein in the absence of any agreement to the contrary.

THE PERSONAL DATA PROTECTION BILL, 2006 : The purpose of this bill is to provide protection of personal data and information of an individual collected for a particular purpose by one organization, and to prevent its usage by other organization for commercial or other purposes and entitle the individual to claim compensation or damages due to disclosure of personal data or information of any individual without his consent and for matters connected with the Act or incidental to the Act.

Section 2 (c) defines “personal data” as information or data which relate to a living individual who can be identified from that information or data whether collected by any Government or any private organization or agency.

The personal data of any person collected for a particular purpose or obtained in connection with any transaction, whether by appropriate Government or by any private organization, shall not be put to processing without the consent of the person concerned. Provided that personal data of any person may be processed for any of the following

(a) the prevention or detection of crime;

(b) the prosecution of offenders; and

(c) the assessment or collection of any tax or duty.

Provided further that no consent of the individual shall be required if the personal data details of the individual are obtained through sources which have been made public.

Provisions contained in this Act are relates to data to be obtained of any person collected by an organization whether government or private, shall not be disclosed to any other organization for the purposes of direct marketing or for any commercial gain and if there is a contravention to this the person shall be entitled to compensation in addition to imprisonment for a term, which may extend to three years or with fine, which may extend upto ten lakh rupees or with both if contravenes or attempts contravene or abets the contravention of any provisions.

If the person committing the contravention is a company, then , every person who, at the time the contravention was committed, was in charge of, and was responsible to, the company for the conduct of business of the company as well as the company, shall be guilty of the contravention and shall be liable to be proceeded against and punished accordingly:

Data controllers have been proposed to be appointed to look upon the matters relating to violation of the proposed Act

· In the matter of Himalaya Drug Company V/s. Sumit 2006(32) PTC 112 (DEL), the Delhi High Court proceeded ex-parte against the defendant who admitted to pass a Herbal Data Base as that of plaintiff’s and violated the trade dress.
The Delhi High Court not only restrained the defendant by an order of permanent injunction from reproducing, communicating to the public, adopting, using or infringing in any other manner the plaintiff’s Copyright in the Herbal Data Base as well as each Herbal Write-up /Description that comprises the Herbal Data Base, but also awarded punitive damages to the extent of Rs. 8 lacs.

· In the recent case of, Daljit Titus, Advocate & Ors. V/s. Alfred A. Adevare & Ors. 2006(32) PTC 609 (DEL), the Delhi High Court protected the works done by the defendant in the plaintiff’s law firm as an employee of the firm for the benefit of clients of the plaintiff under their contract of service.

It observed that the defendants were free to carry on their profession, utilize the skills and information they had mentally retained, but restrained them from using the copied material of the plaintiff in which the plaintiff alone has a right. The defendants were also restrained to utilize the agreements, due diligence reports, list of clients and all such materials which came to their knowledge or have been developed during their relationship with the plaintiff.
The above case raise the issue of well drafted contracts before entering into any kind of relationship with the parties. It envisaged the need of the proper clauses to be drafted as to the dealing of Data, Computer Data Base while in relationship or at the termination of such agreements. Para 6.28 of P.Narayanan on Copyright and Industrial Design – (Third Edition) says that “Whenever an employee of a Solicitor firm drafts a document, the employer is the first owner of the Copyright document”, which means that to protect the Data, computer Data Bases of an organization, one needs to have good drafted contracts with an employee so that no dispute arises after the termination of service of an employee.

· In Burlington Home Shopping Pvt. Ltd. Vs. Rajnish Chibber, 1995 IVAD (Delhi) the highcourt of delhi observed that”Trade catalogues are generally compilations, and as such are capable of protection as literary works. On similar principles, a computer database, stored on tape, disk or by other electronic means, would also generally be a compilation and capable of protection as a literary work”

· In the recent case of Dr. Harsh Pathak vs Union of India & Ors. , a PIL filed by a lawyer in the supremecourt regarding unsolicited Phone calls, the apex court passed an interim order restricting cellular companies to make promotional calls.

The Information Technology Act, 2000 is not data or privacy protection legislation per

se. It does not lay down any specific data protection or privacy principles. The Information Technology Act, 2000 is a generic legislation, which articulates on range of

themes, like digital signatures, public key infrastructure, e-governance, cyber contraventions, cyber offences and confidentiality and privacy. It suffers from a one Act

syndrome. It would be erroneous to compare the Information Technology Act, 2000 provisions with the European Directive on Data Protection (EC/95/46), OECD Guidelines on the Protection of Privacy and Transborder Flows of Personal Data, 1980, and the Safe Harbor principles of the US.

In fact the Information Technology Act, 2000 deals with the issue of data protection and

privacy in a piecemeal fashion. There is no an actual legal framework in the form of Data

Protection Authority, data quality and proportionality, data transparency etc. which properly addresses and covers data protection issues in accordance with the principles of the EU Directive, OECD Guidelines or Safe Harbor Principles. Accordingly, even if the new proposed amendments to the Information Technology Act, 2000 were adopted, India

would still lack a real legal framework for data protection and privacy.

Health is Wealth – Do You Agree?

I agree whole-heartedly with the saying “Health Is Wealth”. If a person is not healthy then he or she will find it very difficult or even impossible to enjoy life, even though he or she may be very rich.

If I am asked to choose one from two of the following things, which will I prefer: health without wealth, or, wealth without health? Without hesitation I will choose the former. There is no doubt.

Wealth is generally associated with how much money a person has, that is, how rich he is. An uncle of mine is very rich. He has just about everything anyone can hope for, and some things no one dares to hope for. That is how rich he is. He lives in a huge mansion guarded by huge dobermans and sophisticated burglar alarms. He has expensive cars, furniture, paintings and other rich man’s toys. Well, he has everything except good health.

Everywhere he goes he carries with him a bag of medicine. He has to take pills everyday for his weak heart, diabetes and hypertension. He is about sixty years old and has spent his life accumulating wealth. Without doubt he has succeeded in becoming very rich. However he has also succeeded in becoming very unhealthy too. He laments about his lack of health and says that how he wished that he was young and healthy again. Unfortunately, he cannot regain his health again.

This example of wealth without health is not what I want to follow. It is ridiculous to have so much material wealth but being unable to enjoy it. What is the use of money when one has to take so much medicine everyday just to stay alive? How can one enjoy life when one’s body is weakened by disease and pain? No wonder my uncle laments so.

Health without wealth is far better. That is what I have now. I do not have to worry even a bit about what I can eat or do. I eat and do what I like because my body is healthy. Of course I do not abuse it by taking drugs or overexerting myself. I take good care of my body. In that way I stay healthy.

With health I can go about my work with joy. If I become rich, then that is fine. Then again, I may lose my riches, but that is all right too. I can always do the things I enjoy whether I am rich or not. I can play games, swim in the sea, climb hills, eat delicious fruits and appreciate the things of this beautiful Earth. This is indeed wealth – to be healthy and joyous.

12 Healthy Healing Foods From the Bible

Why does our society seem to seek every way to overcome sickness and disease other than looking in the best Instruction Manual that’s been around for thousands of years? Why do we avoid the simplicity of the basics when it comes to our health? The “basics” I refer to are eating healthy foods, getting regular exercise and adequate sleep.

Of course, the best instruction manual I am referring to is the Bible and there must be hundreds of books out there educating us on the importance of adequate exercise and sleep. Yes, there are scads of books on what to eat, too, but if they tell you to eat something that seems to contradict what the Bible says is OK, you probably should do some serious research before incorporating it into a regular eating plan.

There are actually some diet/eating plans being promoted that in the long run, may not be very healthy. What a shame if you lose weight, for example, and then have a heart attack because you were eating way too much meat or didn’t get adequate nutrition.

Do I even need to mention some things you should obviously avoid if you want to experience optimum health? Folks, as much as I hate to list anything, this is what I see around me in abundance: fried foods, sugar in just about everything it seems, artificial sweeteners, meals heavy in meats with few vegetables and fruits, almost all cooked, (very little raw foods), and diet drinks.

The foods listed in this report are by no means all the “healthy” foods mentioned in the Bible. They should, however, provide you with some guidance in your food choices.

1. Apples. Song of Solomon. Apples are considered to be the “all around health food.” They are high in flavonoids, fiber and Vitamin C. Some of the apple’s healing powers include:

A.      They lower both bad cholesterol and high blood pressure

B.      The juices in apples are highly effective virus fighters

C.      They help stabilize blood sugar, an important factor in controlling diabetes

D.      They suppress the appetite without robbing the body of necessary nutrients

E.       Depending on the need, they prevent constipation or help treat diarrhea

One caution: conventionally grown apples may be highly sprayed with pesticides and coated with wax. Purchase organically grown apples when possible.

2. Barley. Deuteronomy 8:8, Ezekiel 4:9. Barley’s high fiber content can help keep us regular, relieve constipation and ward off a wide variety of digestive problems. It also may help block cancer. Barley is full of beta glucans, a type of fiber that can lower the risk of heart disease by reducing the levels of artery-clogging LDL.

3. Coriander (Cilantro). When the children of Israel wandered in the desert and received manna from the sky, they described it as looking like coriander seed. Since then coriander has been called “the healer from heaven.” Coriander is recommended for indigestion, flatulence (excessive gas) and diarrhea. Externally, it’s used to ease muscle and joint pain. Recently, scientists began looking at coriander as an anti-inflammatory treatment for arthritis. Other research has demonstrated that it reduces blood sugar levels, an indication that it may prove to be a useful sugar management tool for diabetics.

4. Fish. Luke 24:42-43. Fish is low in cholesterol and contains healthy polyunsaturated fats. Fish is a rich source of protein, potassium, vitamins and minerals with only a moderate amount of sodium. Eating fish:

* Thins the blood

* Protects arteries from damage

* Inhibits blood clots (anti-thrombotic)

* Reduces blood triglycerides

* Lowers LDL blood cholesterol

* Lowers blood pressure

* Reduces risk of heart attack and stroke

* Eases symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis

* Reduces risk of lupus

* Relieves migraine headaches

* Fights inflammation

* Helps regulate the immune system

* Inhibits cancer in animals and possibly humans

* Soothes bronchial asthma

* Combats early kidney disease

The key to the healing powers of fish lies in the omega-3 fatty acids. These are particularly concentrated in cold-water fish such as anchovies, bluefish, herring, lake trout, mackerel, sable fish, whitefish, flue fin tuna, salmon and sardines. Note: in deciding between “healthy” and “unhealthy” fish, you can get specific instruction from Lev. 11:9. Eat only fish which have both fins and scales.

5. Garlic. One of the world’s oldest healing foods. By the time of Moses, garlic was already being used as an anticoagulant, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor agent, as well as a relief for flatulence, a diuretic, a sedative, a poultice and as a cure for internal parasites. Research suggests that garlic may help protect against heart disease and stroke by lowering blood pressure. It contains allylic sulfides, which may neutralize carcinogens. In fact, garlic has been linked to lower rates of stomach cancer, too. It is heart-friendly, with scores of studies showing its astonishing ability to fight hypertension, prevent blood clots and lower cholesterol.

6. Fruits, Berries, Grapes. Numbers 13:23, II Samuel 16:1-2. Grapes were the first thing Noah planted after the flood. Grapes were eaten fresh, dried and eaten as raisins just as we do today, and pressed into cakes. However, most of the crop of the vineyards was made into juice, wine and vinegar. A cup of raw grapes contains only 58 calories, 0.3 grams of fat, zero cholesterol and vitamins A, B and C. Grapes also contain important minerals such as boron, calcium, potassium and zinc.

Grapes may be helpful in preventing osteoporosis, fighting tooth decay, heading off cancer and fighting off viruses. Other health-giving fruits include figs, melons, and pomegranates.

7. Legumes. 2 Samuel 17:28-29, Genesis 25:34. As reported in the book of Samuel, beans were among the highly nutritious foods sent to feed King David’s hungry army and restore their strength for the hard times ahead. Beans have a lot of soluble fiber, which helps lower LDL and reduce blood pressure. The fiber also helps keep blood sugar levels stable, stave off hunger, and even reduce the insulin requirements of people suffering from diabetes.

Beans are a great source of protein as well as being packed full of vitamin C, iron and dietary fiber. Beans help lower blood pressure and reduce the “bad” cholesterol that today’s research has shown to be the cause of so much devastating heart trouble — a rarity centuries ago. Beans contain chemicals that inhibit the growth of cancer. They help prevent constipation, can stop hemorrhoids and other bowel-related problems from developing, and help cure them if they do.

8. Nuts, including almonds, pistachio nuts and walnuts. Song of Solomon 6:11, Gen. 43:11. Botanists today believe that Solomon’s “garden of nuts” referred to in Scripture was a rich grove of walnut trees. At the time, walnuts were prized for the oil they produced, which was regarded as only slightly inferior to olive oil. The fact that walnuts were a delicious treat and highly nutritious was an added bonus. Nuts contain the right mixtures of natural ingredients whose benefits include cancer prevention, a lower risk of heart disease and help for diabetics. The oil found in walnuts is considered helpful because it is one of the “good guy” polyunsaturated fats and tends to lower blood cholesterol levels. Note: it’s best to avoid roasted nuts since they have been found to carry carcinogens, which could lead to cancer growth, so buy your nuts raw.

9. Olives. The olive was one of the most valuable and versatile trees of biblical times. It is mentioned frequently throughout the Bible. Probably the most famous reference to olive oil and its healing powers is in the parable of the good Samaritan, in which the Samaritan cares for a beaten and robbed traveler, treating his wounds with oil and wine. Olive oil, mixed with wine, was even used to soften and soothe bruises and wounds. Known benefits of olive oil include:

* Lowers blood cholesterol

* Reduces LDL (bad) cholesterol levels

* Retards cancer growth

* Reduces the wear and tear of aging on the tissues and organs of the body and brain

* Reduces gastric acidity

* Protects against ulcers and aids the passage of food through the intestines, helping to prevent constipation

* Reduces the risk of gallstones

* Aids normal bone growth

One CAUTION: olive oil has a slight laxative effect, so add it to your diet gradually.

One TIP: the more pure the olive oil, the better, so spend a little extra and get Virgin Olive Oil.

10. Onions. Numbers 11:5. Like its cousin, garlic, the onion is noted as a cure-all. And the folk healers hold it in high regard as far back as 6000 years or more. At least 3000 years before the birth of Christ, onions were treasured both as food and for their therapeutic value — particularly in the treatment of kidney and bladder problems. Some facts about onions:

* Taken internally as a tonic to soothe intestinal gas pains

* Taken internally to alleviate the symptoms of hypertension, high blood sugar and elevated cholesterol

* Some people attribute their long life to a diet that includes high concentrations of onions and yogurt

* The juice of an onion and a syrup made from honey has been used to treat coughs, colds, and asthma attacks

* A tonic of onions soaked in gin has been prescribed for kidney stones and to eliminate excessive fluids

* Modern herbalists recommend onion syrup as an expectorant (it helps eliminate mucus from the respiratory tract)

* Onions can raise the good and lower the bad cholesterol

* Onions can slow blood clotting, regulate blood sugar, break up bronchial congestion and possibly prevent cancer

* Onions possess a strong antibiotic that kills a variety of bacteria

11. Wheat. Jeremiah 41:8, Ezekiel 4:9. Wheat was the “staff of life.” Biblical people ate their grain boiled and parched, soaked and roasted, and even ate it green from the stalk. It was pounded, dried or crushed to be baked into casseroles, porridges, soups, parched grain salads and desserts. Ezekiel’s bread was intended to be a survival food during the dark days of the Babylonion conquest because it contained wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet and spelt. Wheat bran is high in insoluble fiber. The fiber protects us against constipation. It helps prevent intestinal infections, hemorrhoids and varicose veins. It also improves bowel function and guards us against colon cancer.

12. Wine. I Timothy 5:23. John 4:46. Making wine from grapes is one of the most ancient arts and the beverage of choice in the Bible. According to Genesis, one of the first things Noah did after the flood was plant a vineyard so he could make wine. Researchers are now rediscovering what the physicians of the Bible knew centuries ago. In moderation, wine has a profound impact on our health and healing. Just a single glass of wine a day may be enough to raise the good cholesterol by 7% and help the body put up a barrier to a variety of cancers.

Wine appears to help stop heart disease and cancer. A study at the University of Ottawa in Canada concluded that there is a clear link between wine consumption and lower rates of heart disease. Countries where more than 90% of alcohol is consumed in the form of wine have the lowest rate of heart disease deaths.

A British study of 100 men and women discovered that a single glass of wine or sherry everyday increased the HDL or good cholesterol. When the group abstained from drinking wine, the HDL level decreased.

Red wine also seems to increase the body’s defenses against cancer. White wine may carry some of the same therapeutic benefits, but research so far seems to indicate that red wine is the most effective cancer blocker. Note: be sure to drink only in moderation. Ephesians 5:18.

As you can see, the Bible lists a lot of foods, foods that are actually available to us today, that we could be consuming to prevent illness, serious diseases and many trips to the doctor. Good health is not that difficult, but you do have to work at it a bit. It’s a balance of what you eat, exercise, sleep, avoiding stress, taking vitamin supplements. And strange as it may seem, the Bible is actually a complete instruction Manual for all of this.

In conclusion, the 12 healing foods listed here are only a partial list of healing foods found in the Bible. However, this report provides abundant evidence that God has placed on this earth, many health-giving foods for our consumption. A person who makes a serious effort to daily eat some of these health-giving foods, while avoiding health-destroying foods, certainly can expect to reap the benefits of a healthier body.

Know the Several Health Benefits With Titanium Bracelets

There are various types of bracelets. Among them, the titanium bracelets are quite a fashionable one. But as they have magnetic qualities, thus, like magnetic therapy they also alleviate the pain of the wearer to some extent. Easy to wear and safe bracelets of titanium can minimize the symptoms of back pain and arthritis. The effects that the bracelets have are as follows:

Helps in Relieving Pain

The titanium bracelets have been a good way of pain reduction. Sometimes it was found to be relieving in carpel tunnel syndrome. The nerves stimulated when magnets are used in a specific area. This helps in releasing the natural pain killers of the body. According to some people, the magnet also stimulates the flow of blood. This leads to the increase in the ionic exchange. Thus, the person will have a gush of nutrients and oxygenated blood into the area.

Initiates Better Healing

They are good as a healing compound. The healing is initiated by the disposing and localizing the by-products of any injury. The usage of the negatively charged magnets if kept in direct contact with the injured area may increase the body’s power to start the healing process.

Boosts the Healing System

The titanium bracelets have a massive role in increasing the white blood cells. The white blood cells are the ones that defend the body against foreign materials and infectious diseases. They also help to remove the toxins from the affected area. This promotes a healthy immune system. The body’s immune system may speed up in this system.

Helps to Increase Energy

A bracelet of titanium can give a person more energy. The magnetic therapy leads to the increase of the oxygen flow in the body. The flow of oxygen plays a significant part in the metabolism of the energy. This also is good for imparting energy through respiration of carbon dioxide. They enhance cellular respiration. The oxygen level in the blood increases and thus, the person feels more energetic.

Anti-Inflammatory Properties

The titanium bracelets have anti-inflammatory functions also. This occurs because the normal electromagnetic in the body is restored. A normal electromagnetic property provides relax to the capillary walls. This is also good for the connective tissues and the surrounding muscles and allows proper flow of the blood. The proper flow of blood requires the transfer of the nutrients and the oxygen to the injured place. This causes a decrease in the inflammatory agents and the pain of a person.

Because the bracelets are made of titanium, they are less likely to corrode away. In fact, the titanium bracelets can withstand high-temperature conditions, rough handling, and salt water. Thus you can be sure that they are going to last you for several years.

The Faith that is of God and not man

The Faith that is of God and not man

Written by Joseph Ho, December 5th 2014

Our emotions and desires are often mistaken for faith and it is so easy to blame God when there are no results from something that has been purely of the mind and not of the heart. This was a sentence from a long forgotten book by Kathryn Kuhlman that truly struck a significant cord in my heart when I searched for the true reason why many Christians do not get their healing. They thought by doing those things which the church has preached that they will receive the desires of their hearts. Faith by reading the bible, by hearing the Gospel, by human works will not develop true overcoming faith. Faith comes by asking God for the power to believe in him. That is the kind of faith that Jesus preached unmanufactured by human efforts. Faith is given by God to those whom he receives as a son or daughter. Faith is given by the grace of God. That is why it is called Amazing Grace.

Faith will enter your heart when you open it to God. Faith comes by hearing the truth which Jesus preaches; it is not the same kind of faith which the church today teaches. The divinity and the power of the Word of God is Spirit. It is life unto all that receive the gift of faith. You cannot cultivate faith, and many instances people have mistaken their own ability to believe for the faith which only God can give. Faith is not a condition of the mind. It is a divinely imparted Grace to the heart. For our righteousness is as filthy rags to God. In truth, when one does not experience the power of God or an answer to any prayers, they tend not to believe. So why did God make it so difficult to see this hidden truth? He wants us to Ask, Seek and Knock before he opens the door to the keys of knowledge and wisdom.

Isaiah 6:10New International Version (NIV)

10 Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull
    and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
    hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.”

Romans 10:10King James Version (KJV)

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

So how is it possible to believe in God not by sight but by faith? By sight, I mean to believe in a God we can experience. Too much theoretical truth does not produce faith that can overcome the world’s most serious problems like: diseases that kill, sickness that causes years of sufferings, broken relationship that torments the hearts of many people, and the financial bankruptcy of broken dreams and lost business endeavours.

The type of faith that can overcome such disaster can only be real faith given and imparted by a supernatural father God to his adopted sons and daughters. It is not human faith, nor imagined faith. Faith that be of God is not carnal man-made or developed through years of practice. For such power of faith is not normal in this world, it has tremendous manifested latent power to change lives. Faith in God cannot be manufactured. No one say he has the faith until he is tested at the lowest point in their lives, then when God comes, deliverance occurs. It is God who gives us the power to be his sons and daughters thereby drawing the kingdom of God down to earth and manifest goodness and mercy, setting captives free from demonic bondages removing countless years of sufferings and pain.

John 1:12King James Version (KJV)

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Hebrews 12:2King James Version (KJV)

2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

To many people, faith still is their own ability to believe a truth, and is often based on their struggles and their ability to drive away doubt and unbelief through a process of continued affirmations. This sentence from the Book by Kathryn “Not too late” is a very penetrating statement of someone who is deep in God. Not many Christians know that their faith is a product of their own effort and imagination, that is why when testing comes, they all struggle and they start to blame God for not honouring his words and promises in the bible. For the mustard seed faith was self-induced faith not of God but of the human mind. In this kind of righteousness that God is not pleased. So since their prayers were not offered in Godly faith thus it produces no manifestation of power to do anything. Faith that pleases God is a gift from him as well. We need this true Godly faith which only He can give unto us.

Isaiah 64:6New International Version (NIV)

6 All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags;
we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

2 Timothy 1:7New International Version (NIV)

7 For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

So whoever is a true Christian, God gives them power. But do you see power in any Christians today? Not really impressive power if you ask me?  You see wealth in other religious devotees being blessed materially more than most Christians. So what is this power of God that he gives to us then? For wealth can also be acquired by using illegal means.

Psalm 20:6New International Version (NIV)

6 Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed.
He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand.

Deuteronomy 8:18King James Version (KJV)

18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

If you ask most wealthy person, they would tell you, that you need foresight, timing, strong conviction, courage and perseverance, manipulation of conditions and other qualities in order to achieve a goal. This in itself is power, for unless God ordains something it cannot come to past or happen. Wealth belongs to those who have set a purpose in their life and chased it with extreme focus; they have each an extra strong compelling driving force.

Psalm 75:6-7King James Version (KJV)

6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another

James 1:17New International Version (NIV)

17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

So since it is a gift, we need to ask in order to receive this faith. But if we try to cultivate grow and build this faith than we fail. So then God didn’t give us the gift of salvation, for faith is one of the powers to believe in him. His gift is the Grace given unto us to believe.

James 5:15New International Version (NIV)

15 And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven.

The prayers of a man or woman of faith can heal the sick. This prayer is to be offered in faith, so the faith provided to heal comes from the person praying for the sick. It therefore does not require faith to be produced by the person, unless God has already given that sick person faith to believe in his healing offered through a prayer. Jesus called forth Lazarus, from the dead; Lazarus was already dead for 4 days.  When Jesus resurrected Lazarus from the dead, how could Lazarus exercise his faith? No, a dead man can do nothing, it was Jesus full of Holy Spirit and faith that he could wroth those miracles. The prayers that Jesus made or the words he said was made manifest by the Holy Spirit full of Faith.

Why some preachers have faith that can heal why others have nothing except bible verses to share? The difference is one was given the gift of Godly faith and his prayers was always heard by God. While, the others are man-made wisdom from personal studies of scriptures and invoking the same prayer from the carnal mind; therefore no healing was possible since it glories man and not God. Good intentions and kindness may not align with the will of God.

Thus some pastors are envious of others ministries showing signs and wonders while in their own it shows nothing; thus they should not blame God. It’s the story of Cain and Abel all over again. God only authenticates his chosen ones. He gave them power or talent to do his work since he called them, he himself should equip them with power. Church can only equip you with scripture and whatever they think they need to know. Church cannot give you the Holy Spirit or faith if it has none of the above. It is then necessary to go to seek the man whom God has deposited this gift of faith to heal the sick or the gift of faith to prophecy for a word in season. We know Men of Faith are hard to come by, that is why true apostles are few but the counterfeits are many.

All of us need God to show up sometime in our life to solve some serious problems when we encounter our Red Sea. It has to part to let us move forward. This is not a small thing to ask God to show himself in our lives. It has to produce power to manifest and not just the Logos and scripture word quoted from memory. It has to manifest unsolicited miracle and mercy of God. It cannot be dead useless words.

So far many sick churches are run by many sick pastors. They have no relationship with God, and so have no gift of faith to manifest any power to ministry to the sick, blind, disease ridden, broken hearted, and those in dire need for a true miracle healing God. If God wanted to grow his church in anyways he like, he would not have required this God given faith to do his work. He would have simply answered all kinds of prayers and pleading from anyone who is called a Christian who prays for the sick, yet we do not see this happening.

God can only manifest his will according to his kingdom truth and principle. God manages a strong integrity and uncompromising true church of power; he does not authenticate imposters, self-promoting, self-idolizing, self-gratifying clergy masquerading as His Servants. He has no obligation to answer the prayers of anyone who calls on his name, and he is not affected if anyone should be offended at his lack of actions. God is not worried of being misunderstood by men; he would rather send his son to die on the cross than to defend him. God does not think like a man, so if we try to imagine what God is like using our own values than he is truly not a God which you can call upon, since many suffers for years before they got their healing. Some died while they pleaded with God for their healing, and they were Christians, attending church, sang good godly songs, paid their tithes regularly, yet God sent them no healing. They even sang, “God I gave you my everything,”; but not mine life or money or wife or children or my Mercedes Benz. They thought this song singing was just a song, they didn’t know when you sang you are actually confessing with your mouth. Thus, they say things they don’t mean, so how can God answers the prayers of insincerity.

So Jeremiah 29:11 does not come true for everyone as we cannot use scripture any how we feel as it is not for everyone and anyone in the moment of time and season. Wielding the sword (Word of God) without the Spirit is witchcraft; for Satan also quoted scriptures when he spoke to Jesus. We must not follow Satan and his ways, for he did not have the Holy Spirit in him and he used scripture to lead Jesus to commit the sin of disobedience. Similarly, God didn’t give Jeremiah 29:11 to Ahab the king, God had plans to kill him, the same with Saul. So is it true that all Christians will have Jeremiah 29:11. I think not. Quoting the wrong scripture at the wrong time can bring false hope and cause people to move in a wrong direction. It’s always repentance and forgiveness before healing, always.

Jeremiah 29:11New International Version (NIV)

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

How can a good God not healed a diseased man who cries for mercy? How can a good God not healed the broken heart when he cried for mercy? How can a good God not help those in extreme poverty? Because they do not acknowledge that the true God is alive, and they themselves don’t have faith yet worst those who prayed also don’t have the God given faith; that is why he does not answer their prayers. It is also not the will of God to give to all who ask. The faith that pleases God has to be given by God himself to the believer. It cannot be cultivated, developed or manufactured in some 10 steps to godly faith through any church programs run by men for a fee. It has to be faith with Godly power to minister to those in need of help; an iota of mountain moving faith. When you seek God earnestly, he will give you that faith, but you have to ask in order to receive his Gift of Faith. This requires a moment of truth, one instance of clarity, a time of commitment; one encounter for a change in your heart to want this faith. We make this petition and then we wait for his gift.

Hebrews 11:6New International Version (NIV)

6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Isaiah 42:8King James Version (KJV)

8 I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.

Isaiah 42:8New International Version (NIV)

8 “I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols.

By this scripture itself, God will not share his glory with men or any false gods. No men shall share or claim power to heal or making prayers that has any power except that it came from God, his will be done when it pleases him to do it. Only those who have faith can pray and receive from God whatever they petition. These are the prayers of incense that comes before the throne of God daily. Not all can pray for the sick and get healing from heaven.

Revelation 5:8New International Version (NIV)

8 And when he had taken it, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp and they were holding golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of God’s people.

Revelation 8:4New International Version (NIV)

4 The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand.

Ezekiel 18:31New International Version (NIV)

31 Rid yourselves of all the offenses you have committed, and get a new heart and a new spirit. Why will you die, people of Israel?

Ezekiel 11:19King James Version (KJV)

19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:

Ezekiel 36:26New International Version (NIV)

26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.

Oh, pray to the Lord God to give you a new heart and spirit, for only then the faith will arise within your spirit and God then will answers your prayers when you prayed unto him in the name of Jesus, the son of the living God. Those who prays in faith, their prayers will come before the throne of God as an incense, and God sees it on his throne, thereby he will answers their prayers made in faith. God cannot lie. This is his kingdom principle and his kingdom works in this manner. He does not work as a man but as a Righteous God, for his ways are higher than our ways. Blessed is the one who stands daily at my doors, for whoever finds me finds favour and life; you either need to read the bible and keep asking or keep praying until he decides what to you for you. God bless you all, and may the truth set you free.

Let God be God and let him show you who he really is, don’t let men tell you what he is, they don’t know him that well. If they did, then they would have been like God since they think they know God. No one can ever give advice to God; he needed no counsel from men. He is Sovereign. Jesus is the only trustworthy Vine that this world can count on, not man, not organization, not titles and not a church if they do not obey the teachings of Jesus; they are not of God. Jesus does not work for money or even the praises of men, he is untouchable; no amount of temptation can move the heart of Jesus except sincerity, love and compassion. We have about 41,000 denominations to show that Jesus is not the only way but many ways. In truth, we have 41,000 permutations of Jesus’s way, so how did it get that way? It’s all 41,000 man-made ways, they all think they know the truth and they think that their church is the only true church. So we need to return back to THE ONE AND ONLY WAY, THE ONLY ONE TRUE ALMIGHTY GOD’S WAY.

How To Identify Panic Attack Symptoms

Panic attack symptoms happen when a person’s anxiety gets out of control. I know the sinking feeling of my anxiety getting out of control and taking over my life. People who do not suffer from panic disorder do not understand how devastating panic attacks can be.

When I first started getting panic attack symptoms they really didn’t bother me too much. As they started to get worse they really started to negatively affect my life. No one seemed to understand the pain and suffering I was going through. People would tell me that I was overreacting and that I was being too sensitive. This made me feel horrible, I mean was there anyone out there to help me? I had never felt so alone and alienated.

The feeling of being alone just increased the frequency of my panic attacks. I mean how could people not understand what I was going through? This was real, the pain and depression I felt were real. This was an extremely dark time in my life. I started thinking that I had some sort a disease, or a tumor, or something! I thought there was no way that anxiety could affect me so bad.

If you think you have a panic disorder, keep an eye of for the panic attack symptoms:

The most common panic attack symptom is the fear of having another attack. I used to dread another attack. I did everything I could to avoid things that could trigger panic attacks. I was in constant fear of my headaches and dizziness. If you find yourself avoiding specific people or places for the fear of an attack, then it is very likely that you are suffering from panic attacks.

Another fairly common panic attack symptom is tingling and numbness through your body. Even though this is a common symptom, it’s best to play it safe and see a doctor.

Feeling smothered is another panic attack symptom. People often feel like the weight of the world is on their chest. People often feel like they cannot breathe. This symptom usually scares people the most. This happens because of the way you breathe when you get anxious.

When you breathe too fast your body’s carbon dioxide and oxygen levels get all out of whack. When you breathe too much and too fast you can experience breathlessness, or you can start to hyperventilate… This used to happen to me a lot and I would think I was choking… It felt like I was being smothered by a pillow.

If you find yourself experiencing these panic attack symptoms then you probably have a panic disorder. The best way to treat these symptoms is through behavior modification. This can be done fairly easily and requires no medication.
